I hope you didn't forget everything during the summer, and that you're prepared to work hard this year .
As you can see, it's only June 2006 and I'm already thinking of ways to torture you in 2007!
This year, students who took their A-Levels were pretty bad at English; that's what you get when you haven't been listening in class for years. Some didn't even know the meaning of the question "where do you come from?"It's a real shame."I work in aménagement" was fun too. Not to mention those who speak other languages-execpt English-: "Como se dice....heu! Scusi! ....heu!"
I hope that you'll do better than them;otherwise, you might be in the jury's bêtisier 2007 .
My advice to you in order to progress, is of course to listen and participate in class: you learn more if you're not bored, and there is always something to learn, even basics , because teachers are always repeating themselves...
Also, you should watch plenty of DVDs in original version with French subtitles first, and then once you're familiar with the film or series, you can switch to English subtitles.
Also, search for your favourites songs' lyrics and try to find their meaning with your good old dictionary. (The translations from the net are often bad).
Of course, you can also surf on the numerous websites in English which are dedicated to learning English.
There's no excuse to be bad at grammar, because there are so many exercises to do!
The secret is to use something you like(music, films, the Internet) to learn something through it. Good luck.
